Overdue Missing Mushroom Picker - stood down

Terrace SAR was requested by RCMP to assist in the rescue of an overturned canoe with three people in the water, Eleven team members responded. The three people were picked up by a boat in the area. Terrace SAR was stood down, all members returned home.

Received a call from RCMP, they received a report that the night before a caller indicated they spotted a white flare. An RCMP member was currently flying over the area to determine if anyone was in distress in the area. Terrace SAR was put on standby. Briefing with the RCMP it was determined the flare was not a distress flare. Terrace SAR stood down.

At 1150 hours on July 3, Terrace Water Rescue Team was requested by RCMP top assist in a stranded boat on the Skeena River, with a family on board. It was reported the boat had mechanical problems and was tied to a rock in the middle of the river near Hells Canyon. Terrace SAR responded with 5 Swiftwater rescue technicians. The subject’s boat was located tied to the shoreline on river right. Two family members were transported to the boat launch. The team assisted the boat operator in getting his boat returned safely to the boat launch..
